Actor Howard Hesseman died due to complications of colon surgery on Saturday. He played the radio disc jockey Johnny Fever on the sitcom "WKRP in Cincinnati" and the actor-turned-history teacher Charlie Moore on "Head of the Class."

Hesseman died because of complications from colon surgery, his manager said. He earned two Emmy nominations for his role on the CBS show, which ran from 1978 to 1982.
